Today is World AIDS Day. Decades after the first cases of HIV/AIDS were diagnosed, there is still much to be done. Ways to help:
1. Get tested--knowing your status helps you protect yourself and your partner(s). Testing can be quick, painless and free.
2. Do not have unprotected sex unless you are in a committed, MONOGAMOUS relationship where both partners know their statuses (and know they are supposed to be monogamous).
3. Volunteer at organizations who serve populations of folks who are HIV+ or have full blown AIDS. Check your local phone directory for organizations who provide goods, services and care for this often overlooked population.
4. Become educated about ways to prevent HIV infections. Don't rely on old wives' tales or inaccurate information. Tragically, people are still dying around the world due to incorrect information and dangerous practices as a result.
Today is World AIDS Day. We’ve still got more work to do. Remember if everyone does a little, then no one has to do a lot. After all, we are the world <3
